  4. Welcome to Dragons Bane: Mah Jongg II. The following screens will introduce
  5. you to the basic features of the game. For full details please read the
  6. documentation file DRAGON.DOC. You can view this file by selecting
  7. View Doc File from the File menu.

  10. The object of the game is to find matching pairs of tiles that are free
  11. to be removed. For a tile to be free it cannot be blocked (even
  12. partially) from above and must also not be blocked on either the left or
  13. the right side. In general there are four of each tile so two possible
  14. pairs should be available.

  16. !FKeyboard Shortcuts
  17. The quickest way to access the menus with the keyboard is by using the
  18. ALT key. Hold it down while pressing the letter that starts the menu
  19. item you want, i.e., ALT-F for the file menu. Some menu items can be
  20. accessed directly: for example, ALT-N will start a new game, CTRL-H gets
  21. a hint.

  23. !JPlay Options
  24. There are a number of options available to you. Some affect how the
  25. game is played (for example, setting a time limit) while others only
  26. affect the looks of the game (loading a background picture). Be sure
  27. to check both the File and Options menus for the many choices available.

  29. !LFile Menu
  30. This item on the menu bar opens up a list of functions that can start
  31. a new game, load a saved game or save the current game, load a new
  32. set of playing tiles or a new board layout, load a background
  33. picture, view a text file or print an order form. You can also start
  34. the board layout editor from this menu.

  36. !LOptions Menu
  37. Here you have a number of choices. You can set how the next board number
  38. is selected, control animation and sound effects, allow peeking at
  39. the end of the game, clear the background or view the current tile set.

  41. !LHints Menu
  42. If you get stuck there is help available. You can ask to see all available
  43. moves, or find a match for a single selected tile. You can also undo and
  44. redo previous moves and view all previous moves.

  46. !LStatistics Menu
  47. Many people like to keep records of their game play. Several ways of doing
  48. this are available which can be selected here. You can also view your
  49. current statistics.

  51. !LTourney Menu
  52. Tournaments let you play competitive games against other players. You must
  53. first set up the tournament by defining which board layout, board number,
  54. etc. are to be used. Then everyone plays exactly the same game and their
  55. scores are compared to determine a winner.
